A. With Smart, its clearly not about the money.
B. Bama knows Saban is the architect of that defense. Smart may be a good DC on his own, but he is running Saban's defense and can be replaced from the inside by Steele I'm sure.

How much does it speak to where our staff is now that we supposedly lose a top assistant to a division rival over 400k and have basically become leverage for other assistants to get raises?

Im aware of that, but why are we allowing a division opponent to gain leverage using us? If he wants a raise, use Oklahoma.

I would imagine bama will announce his raise in the next 48 hrs
And if that happens look for LSU admin to look like fools and they will deserve it.
If they can't hire smart in a matter of 24 hrs they should announce that he is not a candidate IMO
