Jamarcus Russell
Matt Flynn
Ryan Perriloux

All three at that stage of their career were capable of leading that 2006 team to an SEC and National Title.

Didn't happen, of course.

I remember those ridiculous arguments of JR vs MF. After the QB play I've seen the last 7 years, I'd take either every year. Damn we were spoiled.

Just saying that there was a time when LSU had 3 championship caliber QBs. Lots of people are saying that LSU never has that. We HAD it in 2006.

Still didn't win anything, but we were 3 deep at QB.

2006 still frustrates me. Should have been a national title team. Auburn/Florida. 2-3 plays go a different way and LSU wins back-to-back possibly.

People probably think you'll get tired of never acknowledging ANY Miles deficiencies, but, you continually prove them wrong. You have staying power!!!!

Actually Les signed RP. But yeah the two successful QB's were not recruited by Les, more important they were both developed by Jimbo Fisher. Regardless of what you think about FSU, it's hard to argue that he's not one of the best QB coaches in the business.

2006 was an underachieving year for sure. Bad luck at FLA and the refs ensured the AU loss. The offense was good but never seemed as smooth as it should've been. The defense was killer. But I don't assume LSU wouldve beaten OSU like FLA did.

What does that have to do with the current situation within the football program in 2015 at Louisiana State University?

Why does anyone give a flying frick about what happened in 2006?

That's Ancient History.

No one forced you to read a thread about such ancient history. I was alive in 2006 though and sometimes it's fun to reminisce.

The team that curb stomped the Domers in the bowl game would have beaten anyone they played. No one wanted any part of that defense and JR finally being unleashed.

Fisher is the primary reason why LSU did not compete for a NC that year.

And if Les did not start off his tenure by trying to get him, he would have been on some bad footing with the fanbase.

At the end of the 2006 season LSU was the best team in the country. They were driving for a go ahead score at Auburn when the officials picked up the flag on a clear pass interference call. Had they won that game LSU would have had a rematch with Florida in the SEC title game.

Florida wanted no part of LSU in Atlanta. They got lucky in the regular season. Remember a TD was reversed because Hester's elbow touched at the 2 inch line, then Jamarcus fumbled the next snap. Tigers would have been up 14-0 in second quarter and in full control.

Then Early fumbled the second half kickoff. Yes those were self induced gaffes, but not likely to occur again had they met in Atlanta. Tebow could have thrown 10 jump passes and it would not have mattered. The LSU team which took apart Notre Dame and Brady Quinn was the best team at the wrong time in January 2007.

FWIW the same could probably be said about Georgia at the end of the next season when LSU did win the
BCS title.

Didn't we win both in 2007?

Perriloux should be scratched from the list because he never was a leader. That's one of Les' problems. He picks athletes, not leaders. A 3-star QB from Texas could take us to the National Championship if they could lead the offense. We have all the weapons. Matt Mauk and Matt Flynn were the generals of their teams and that's why we won. Haven't seen any of that from the QB's as of late. That includes Jerret Lee.
