Contract length, both have one more year on their deal. Part of the problem now is the GM and Coach aren't on the same page because we hired the coach first. If you fire Monty this year but keep Demps, hire a new coach and then decide to fire Demps you're back in the same situation with a coach in place before your GM.

I think he has been good. The only questionable contract in this NBA market is Gordon right now.

Monty needs to be the guy to go. If I were Dell I would get out in front of it. This team would haveseveral more wins with an upgrade at coach alone imo.

Pelicans aren't exactly upgrading at coach at the halfway point.

I highly doubt that was all his call.

Dell doesn't have to go. He is a solid GM that makes a lot of moves, and because he is an active GM he gives people a lot of chances to talk shite about him for better or worse. He understands the value of contracts and securing talent. He has done nothing but transform NOLA from perennial scrub to possible contender. GOHD

I don't know, If nothing else he has brought in a collection of talent that should be good enough to reach the playoffs. I don't blame him for the Gordon crap.

With that being said, I don't think getting rid of Monty is Dell's call. If so I think it would already be done.

1st for Asik? Stupid to call this a bad move. All Monty needed was a rim protector to make his D legit. Wait, we're still in the lower 1/3rd in the league..

This is a rental. We gave a 1st away for the balloon payment on Asik.

Trading Rolo and Gravy for Reke? Still a toss up. I loved the move and feel like with a coach who could control him, it would be a win.

Bad trade considering roster construction. You gave up a starting center and solid backup point guard for a second 6th man

Cunningham is a win

Dumb luck and nothing more

Realizing Rivers was garbage and unloading him is a win

This is not a win. He used a first on that garbage.

I think Dell has probably been working under a directive to, at least some degree, play for now. That has to have had an effect on his decisions. I think he's made some decent moves given what deals and players were/are actually available. Is he the long term answer? I don't really know.

Dell has to go before Monty does.

Hard to say how good he is. He's been under pressure to win now because our owner is on the verge of dying. He also didn't hire Monty if I'm remembering correctly.

His moves weren't good pre-Benson, either.

His biggest failures starting with the worst:

1. Trading Vaz/Lopez for Evans
2. Drafting Rivers (I'd give more blame to Monty. He was a "Monty" player due to his friendship with Doc)
3. Signing EG to a max
