So for the last few days playing Advanced Warfare, my controller has frozen up and become unusable. I have to completely unplug the XBox for it to work. Anybody else have this problem and have a fix? I am assuming the headset is not working because of the controller (original one ear headset). TIA

Have you updated your controller?

It has never been updated but does it automatically update or do I have to manually do it?

BTW, my brother in law has the same issue and he updated his controller a couple nights ago.

You do have to manually update the controller. My controller disconnects from time tot time especially if I'm far away from the Xbox but it prompts me to reconnect. You get no disconnect notice, it just stops working? Do you have a kinect?

No kinect and no warning. I read somewhere that it may be the always on feature.

Anyone ever have any problems turning on the xbox with the controller or connecting your controller to the xbox with the headset attachment attached to the controller (the one that came with the xbone)? I have to unplug it for my xbox to recognize the controller.

Mine is usually in when it happens but I haven't noticed it with it in there. I wonder if it is the headset that is causing it.

Do you have the kinect sensor? I had to change some settings on my consol, because the controller wouldn't sync.

No Kinect to have a sensor. Didn't buy the kinect version.

Update your controller, use a lightning cable from controller to side USB port in xbone. Keep headset attached, go to settings and update

It could be a firmware problem. A friend of mine has been having lots of problems with his controller ever since the controller update a few months back. Sadly, he has found no fixes for his problems.

Also, go into settings, and go to where you choose "instant on" and uncheck the box that is for the kinect to turn on your Xbox by saying "xbox on". Make sure that box is unchecked.

EDIT: you get to the right menu by going to settings>power & startup.

Did that while I was there. I'll update it through a few sessions and update thread
