Don't read the comments on the SBI article about this unless you want to gouge your own eyes out.

But yeah, this team needs to do better. The team needs a better target striker, Tab needs to do a better job of rotating players, and he needs to play players in their proper position, eg Arriola is better out wide, and Gall is better centrally.

I'm not going to claim to be an expert on this but every time I watch Gall, I come away incredibly unimpressed.

He's actually been playing pretty well lately for our youth teams.

What's the success rate been like, historically, for our guys that came through the U-17s, U-20s, etc and actually made it to the senior team and made an impact? Did Bradley, Jozy, LD, Dempsey, guys like that, play for the youth teams? Are our best players that match the age criteria playing in these games?

I guess what I'm asking is, does it actually matter that our youth teams can't beat Panama and Guatemala?

Our U-20 team in 2007 got to the quarterfinals of the U-20 WC. They beat Brazil, Poland, and Uruguay, notably. That Uruguay team had Suarez and Cavani. Jozy, Bradley, and Adu were all members of that team.

They still have 3 games left in the group stage so it's not exactly time to panic yet, but it certainly hasn't been encouraging.

It certainly isnt over yet, but it looks bad.

It's important to remember that under-aged results are often very odd. For example, Nigeria routinely wins underaged tournaments, including world cups, but that doesn't mean they're world beaters at the senior level. Development is what is important at this level, not trophies.

Still, having both would be better.

2 groups of 6 teams
in the group, the top team in both groups advances to the cup automaticaly
the next 2 teams in each table advance to a knock out game, where those 2 winners advance
so we have to be top 3 to have a chance

right now
Panama +5 6pts
Triniad +4 4 points
Guatemala +1 4 pts
Jamaica -1 1pt
US -1 1pt
Aruba -8 0

So aruba is the weak link and the top 2 have already played them
