If you haven't heard of them take a listen.

Pretty talented group of musicians.

I like them. Prefer The Head and the Heart for that sound/vibe, though.

The Head & The Heart's first album was incredible but their newest is lacking for me.

I thought it was lacking at first. Then I saw them tour on it and listened to it a lot more... then I decided I liked it as much as the first.

They are barely distinguishable from all the other bands in the folk movement. I prefer Head and the Heart.

They are really great. Check out some of the live stuff in small rooms of Dirty Paws and Little Talks. Almost seems like lip synching.

Oh, and as usual, I think SUB is nuts.

I feel like Of Monsters and Men have fallen off the face of the Earth in the past year. Hopefully a new album is coming soon.

What's so absurd about my statement? Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, Head and the Heart, and Edward Sharp all sound pretty similar. I'm not saying the music sucks, but it just seems like these bands are just using the same formula to spit out the same folksy music.

Case in point - "Dirty Paws" and "Home" are as bad as Nickelback's "How You Remind Me" and "Someday."

Well, you followed it up with,

quote:

I know music is subjective and all, but this is just stupid.

Dirty Paws and Home are basically the same song. Just google "dirty paws home." Apparently there are tons of other "stupid" people who have the same thoughts and have made videos combining the songs.

If you can't hear it, then you must be deaf.

I'm not comparing them to nickelback as a similar artist. I'm just comparing the way that the two songs are basically the same. Google "How you remind me of someday" and prepare to laugh.

None of those 4 sound anything alike to me. Of Monsters and Men is unique w/ male and female vocals, Mumford is more layered acoustic w/o female vocals, Edward Sharp is more weird-folk with a hippy vibe.

I do agree there are bands cashing in on the folk trend, but I don't think any of those 4 have. OMAM is very different than most of what's out there, THATH changed directions totally with their second album, and Edward Sharp is just as weird and offbeat as ever. Mumford may get old, but they're not really copying anyone else that I can see.
