After watching these playoff games, I don't think so anymore...and before the "Saints' O line is shitty" excuses start, thats what stands out about the QBs in the playoffs...the plays that are made when they're getting harassed.

Even if Brees performs at a high level next season, the Saints need to at least identify and acquire the successor.

And they've also made mistakes and taken bad sacks. Brees is the most accurate QB in the NFL under pressure. You're watching some of the best olines in football today.

And yes, hes top 5

Nah. He's got probably three maybe four more years of elite play. But that said, it's more important than ever to keep him upright and invest in our o-line heavily.

Yes.

You're watching Peyton Manning in this game and thinking, "oh boy, this guy is better than Brees?"

2. Brady
3. Luck
4. Wilson
5. Flacco
6. Romo
7. Brees

Flacco

He needs to put togethor a great regular season before you can put him up there

Wilson

Crazy how Room became elite once his oline started protecting...

If you're trying to prove that you've been watching these QB's all season, this isn't helping you.

I thought Denver's play calling on offense (today) mirrored what hurt the Saints in the last couple of years. Manning is still elite, so Bree's must be as well. Bad play calling plus 1000 other things hurt the saints this season.

Yes he is.

People who don't consider him as such has a heavy bias they need to check. This is a win now league and there are 21 or so teams that would take him in a heartbeat over what they have at QB now.

I'm basing it off playoff performances mainly for the younger ones that are just getting their careers started. In relation to the Saints, I would expect Payton & Loomis already know they have to find their guy to compete with these teams in the future.

If only 21 teams would take him over what they have then he isn't a top 5 qb is he?

Having had him as my fantasy QB I can attest to this. I won games starting week 13 in spite of Manning.

5 tds, 6 ints, 2 fumbles, and 234 ypg over the last 5 regular season games. 211 yards and 1 td tonight. That's pretty much par for the course.

So if Brees isn't elite because of the way he finished this season, then I guess Manning isn't either because he finished worse.

Btw, Brees had 11 tds, 6 ints, 1 fumble, and 292 yards over the final 5 games. They finished with VERY comparable seasons.

It doesn't mean that, but it might take some critical thinking on your part to figure it out.

this season?
One season does not make you elite.

This was by far Roth's best year.

Romo didn't need to pass nearly as much the past 2 seasons(look at his yards). The one recent year he threw for big yards he also threw for 19 picks.

Despite Manning's super hot start last year he has tapered off a lot at the end of both seasons(especially this year) and look especially poor at times this season.

This was Luck's first big year. He had under 25 tds and under 4,500 yards both of his first two seasons and has a sub 60% career completion percentage. He's also averaging over 14 ints a season.

Brady(minus last year) and Rodgers are the only two guys clearly better than Brees right now and have done it with any kind of consistency. Manning's time appears to be coming to an end. Is Brees'? Let's wait a year and see if he can bounce back like Brady did.

Edit:
Actually going back and looking at Brady, he still looks like he is on a downward trend(well, holding from last year).

Rodgers is clearly the best QB in the game right now. After that a lot of debate can be made but only a few guys have been consistently at the top(until recently) and they are Brees, Manning, and Brady.
