He's been below average to say the least since his ankle injury. And Frankly outside of 3-4 games, he has really been average all year. I think we should give Patterson the start and let Gray come in as a 20-25 minute type of guy until he can gain full confidence to take this team to the level we need him at. We've seen what he's capable of when he's on, but right now, he's in a slump and we cannot continue to start him and have him in the game during critical moments.

Who starts is irrelevant. Patterson should get more minutes.

He'll probably start tonight but he needs to go to the bench asap if he comes out like he did against missouri. Hopefully he'll settle down and have a good game.

it's not irrelevant at all…some players like TQ play better off the bench. he's an energy guy that brings a good chance of pace.

I think having him come off the bench will help him relax a little bit. he's pressing too much right now.

Not enough ball handling without him starting

Im more concerned with patterson getting more minutes. When Gray is under control, he's really good, but it hardly ever happens.

Since the injury this is true, for whatever reason. Supposedly he's 100% healed so whatever's going on is in his head. Good coaching deals with it. Needs to happen now.

I would not be against it. CJJ needs to do something to curb this disturbing turnover trend.

And Gray has been the main culprit. I expected better from Gray. Thought he might be a better shooter. Teams have adjusted to him and to this point he has not adjusted back.

The bench can sometimes be a great motivator.

I don't know what goes on in his head, but he doesn't strike me as a guy who would take getting benched very well. I agree, he is not living up to expectations and something needs to change.

True, Gray was venting a bit publicly earlier this year. But that's what CJJ gets paid for to make tough decisions and dealing with egos. With the talent he's got coming in it's a skill he's going to have to hone.

He was more the good cop when he was here as an assistant here, and at UNT he mostly had different types of kids to coach.

That's what I'm talking about. Possibly the best way to handle him is to keep him in the starting lineup with a short leash attached. Quarterman and Patterson appear to have embraced their roles as first two off the bench. As others have stated numerous times, it doesn't make a difference who is on the floor for the tipoff, rather it's how many minutes they play.

Gray didn't help his cause after a lack luster game, he committed the foul at the end of the game, that still has everyone scratching their heads.
