In locker room, Quincy Pondexter said his phone is blowing up with family "panicking". He said he plans to talk to his agent in a few mins

Oh lurd.

If there's some big name guy we're trying to sign, Pondexter's contract wouldn't be hard to move.

Yeah he has sort of been the piece the Grizz were likely going to have to attach to any sort of big time deal.

Apparently they could've worked out the deal for Jeff Green eventually, but probably wanted to get it done quickly considering the rut the team is in currently.

Quincy Pondexter has a range of emotions due to relationships w/ N.O. personnel as well as never thinking "it would come to leaving Memphis"

Like I said earlier, Q has never been the best locker room guy.

There's no way he couldn't have known that he was on the trade block. It reminds me of Gordon's shock when we matched Phoenix's offer.

He's an eccentric guy. Theater guy.

I thought he might be a little light in the loafers.

I mean just compare those to Tayshaun's comments:

@CAGrizBeat
Tayshaun Prince says he's been on trading block since his rookie season "if it happens then so be it" Prince says ab potential Boston deal

He seemed to really like it in Memphis, but this is probably for the best for both parties.

Good move by dell. Qpon is exactly what we need and will be great especially this year. I think this is a solid bandaid for this years SF problem.

What does this mean for Cunningham's chances of being resigned if we dont move anderson for a SF and sign an MLE SF to be signed this offseason?

In framework of proposed three-team trade, New Orleans' Russ Smith moves to Memphis, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Hmm. I would have liked to keep Russ but that makes more sense salary wise.

Grizzlies liked Russ Smith a lot among second rounders in last summer's draft.

Also makes sense because Calathes is likely going to walk after the season

When he was drafted he seemed genuinely excited about New Orleans. I think he'll get over it if he has a solid role, which he should with our depth.

I loved the Russ pick at the time, but I was underwhelmed by how NBA ready he was for being in college that long. I just don't know if his ceiling is much higher than a 4th-5th guard.

ETA: the fact that we have Rivers and Jimmer laying eggs left and right and his name never came up should be somewhat concerning.

HPbasketball thinks the Grizz will just waive him. Gonna be interesting to see what happens because they already have 3 PG's on the roster they like.
