Planning on going deer hunting for the first time this year

I'm an avid shooter but I have never been deer hunting.
I'm taking suggestions for my first official deer rifle.. looked at a Browning A bolt today..decent gun?

A tikka T3 in .243 or larger. I would personally go 7mm-08 or 6.5X55 though.

Shot my first deer with a 300 mag and my dad laughed at me because I thought I broke my shoulder

Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .30-06 or .308. Not much more than a TIKKA and made in the USA.

I'm thinking about starting deer hunting too. Never could sit up a tree for long but getting older and may have more patience now.
