LOL, where would he go? Another school to take a positional job? He's potentially got a promotion to defensive coordinator at a top 10-15 program coming his way, through sheer luck of having other options decline ... why would he squander that with impatience or a perceived slight?
If a great promotion is about to fall into your lap, you don't get miffed over how long it's taking and blow off the whole deal.

At some point, he's gonna feel like just a last resort option. I know he wants the best for the program, but he has also dreamed of this position and is just watching name after name surface in front of him.

True, just wanted to see if anyone felt this way. I hope he takes that stance. Just feel like ego's get in the way a lot these days.

Oddly, I've wondered if Les has him out looking for jobs. Since Les doesn't really fire anyone, he's giving Brick the opportunity to leave on his own so he can bring in a new DC and Coach O.
