I've never had a tohatsu, but on the hull truth, they're generally recognized as bullet proof forever motors. Also, apparently they are more popular with sailboats. Almost bought one once but missed it. I would buy one.

My dad just bought a new Yamaha 25 from dockside and put it on a 14 foot Jon.. I think the yammy was just over $3.1k so may be a stretch to get boat/motor/trailer/tt&l for less than 5. Probably closer to 5.5 to 6k with the alweld. He rushed through it and didnt take his time to research and bought a narrow alumacraft which he now regrets.

Yea you're going to need to buy a used boat and trailer and new motor if that's what you want. You're not finding a new 14' with trailer and new motor for 5K. And you're definitely not finding a deal if you're not willing to wait a while and see what's out there.
