Has there every been a really good, gritty revolutionary war series?

From a battle standpoint, it's just not that interesting.
There were a few interesting strategic moves and politics involved, including on the British side, where there was a decent amount of sentiment in Parliament to let us go.
But militarily, it was like brother shooting brother so the we kind of took it easy on each other...something we didn't do 90 years later.

I actually think things might have been worse in the American Revolution in that regard. I do agree it was overall a "cleaner" war but there was no intermingling between sides and the patriots were infamous for treating royalists badly.
The Civil War was a mixed bag. I'm rereading a great book on it now about Civil War life and it has all these examples of soldiers getting together.
One was a group of Union soldiers went over to a Confederate camp to chill with the Confederates. The officer found out and was going to have the Union soldiers arrested and the Confederate soldiers begged to have the Union soldiers let go.
Pickets often times would come to agreements to not shoot at each other when the two sides were close together.
And one of my favorite stories. At Petersburg, when a soldier was on duty, he'd yell across the battlefield to the other side to duck their heads because he was about to shoot.
