Planning a trip in April/may. Need some advice from people who have been. Probably going to stay downtown. Restaurants? Bars? Breweries? Strip Clubs? etc. Any help is appreciated.

Go out to Jester King brewery.

Take a look at what music acts are in town that weekend and hit up a few clubs (Stubbs, Continental, etc)

Shady Grove cool place to eat and hang out, usually have music as well

Tons of great food there

I guess the Stokes Castle is cool. Also, you can mine silver. Landsailing competition doesn't start until July, unfortunately. You might just want to drive on over to Reno or Vegas

Restaurants

Eat some BBQ while you're here

You can go the Franklin route if you want to stand in line for a couple hours but I would recommend La Barbecue (Cesar Chavez and I35), John Mueller's Meat Company (E 6th and Perdenales), Mickelthwaite (forgot) as pretty much just as good without the wait. Those are trailers. If you want more of a sit down restaurant, try Terry Black's BBQ on Barton Springs, or Stiles Switch on N Lamar.

I had my bachelor party in Austin. We goat a house NE of downtown on VRBO.com. We rented a party barge one day and hung out in Devil's Cove. I can't remember all the places we ate. We went to Stubb's one night for a concert, 6th street another night.

Another bachelor party we did in Austin we rented a House Boat and anchored it in Devil's Cove. Took a party bus to 6th street, met some chicks and some how convinced them to come back to our house boat with us. That's when the "implication" took over.

Used to be a quick in and out. Last time I went it was a 2 hour wait. He's developed a following.

Yeah, his place seems to be a bit hit or miss on the line. Blue Ox BBQ on E Riverside is close to him and a great alternative as well. Too many pretty good places to stand in line for hours.

Just FYI, if you're wanting to go to Lake Travis, it's about 60-65ft low.

Party on Lake Austin.
