When you are flying around recruiting coaches of the caliber or Pendergast and Shoop, that has some meaning as to what you are looking for.

Or are we to believe not?

If we resort to promotion from within"

OK?

-or-

Fail?

promotion from within at this point, when the whole world knows we've gone around looking for other options, is a complete unmitigated fricking disaster.

It all depends on the result. There is nothing anywhere that says that Brick will be a failure as a DC. He might be really good. Would it be a fail if he can field a top 5 defense for two years? I guess the only fail would be that he would get a head gig of his own and be gone.

This would not surprise me one bit. Les knew all along that he wanted to promote his buddy, but he was forced to go through the motions of conducting interviews. Hiring Brick would've been a bit more palatable if we had gotten BeBe as DL coach, but it looks like that's not happening either.

It's a fail.

LSU should not be a learning on the job type place for a DC.
