Now that it is seems we are looking at getting Golson or Miller, it's apparent that Miles and Cam want more options at QB. I think the the style of QB that would be best suited for our offense would be the pocket passer that Rettig was billed to be. What Mettenberger did last year is evidence of that. My question, did Rettig make a mistake transferring, or did he make the right move because our coaches are dead set on trying to fit a square peg in a round hole?

Can't we get a QB who has at least taken a few snaps under center and has completed a 10 yard check down from within the pocket?!

I would have loved to have him stay on the roster but perhaps he felt like the coaching staff wasn't going to give him a legit shot. Can't really blame the kid after watching Miles handle JJ/JL and now AJ/BH.

Has Rettig even thrown a pass for Rutgers yet?

Brandon Harris - '14
Torrance Gibson - '15
Shea Patterson - '16
Feleipe Franks - '16
Zadock Dinkelmann - '18

Look forward, not back.

IDK, but Harris was named backup during the spring, so Rettig saw the writing on the wall. Maybe with Rettig, Harris could have RS'd, but who know...water under the bring. Harris for QB in 2015.

Maybe he wasn't any good?

Then the question comes, well why did they recruit him? No one really knows what these QBs will measure up until you get them in practice against other college level athletes. Evaluating a high school QB is a huge crapshoot.

Y'all say look to the future and not the past, then say we suck at developing QBs. Not much development can go on with a freshman especially if he's not an EE. Neither Franks or Patterson will be our savior the first year, especially if miles makes them do things that they aren't good at or have never done like asking Harris to take snaps under center in a "pro style" offense.

Assuming he can play, and assuming he still wanted to be at LSU, he ABSOLUTELY made a mistake. The guy would have been given an opportunity to play and perhaps show promise.

Now, in reality, he probably would have struggled. But, he would have had this offseason to progress and compete and potentially outperform the other guys and win the job. I would assume, that when he picked LSU, this is what he envisioned. A fighting chance to win the job somewhere in year 3. He jumped the gun, IMO.

To be fair, he's in a spot now where he could start...but it's at Rutgers.

Maybe, maybe not. He was young, which is why I said I would have liked him to stay and develop. But if the coaches are as stubborn as they appeared with Jennings this year, then he may have never gotten a fair chance to show them one way or another.

I went to two practices when he was here and he looked terrible..........throwing next to Jennings.

Looked like he had to really put everything into every throw and no accuracy.

I think Rutger's starting QB graduates this year. The start job will be open.
