I'm currently in the process of moving out into my own place, and i'm deciding on whether or not to purchase cable or satellite tv. i've already got netflix/hulu/amazon tv subscriptions on my PS4/apple tv, but i'm worried about my espn/SEC network and amc for TWD and Better Call Saul.

how are you guys set up to accommodate this?

AMC requires a password from a major cable provider to watch their shows. So your options are borrow your parents password, torrent it, or pay iTunes/Amazon for it.

Home-built HTPC and antenna in the living room. Roku box in the bedroom..

ETA: Use someone else's cable TV password for ESPN and SEC Network games

Find a friend with a good Plex server and watch shows from that for free.

we have an apple tv, amazon fire stick, and we can also stream from my old ps3. I usually just watch everything from iPad these days, and the wife only watches Netflix. I can get the WatchESPN app through my uncle's dish account (thank God).

anything else i want to watch, just use some shady sites and mirror from ipad to apple tv.

Plex is so incredible. I have over 4k movies on my plex server and share with my friends. Just an absolutely fantastic thing I wish I had known about a long time ago.

Is there an app for that on the Roku store?
Does it work with chromecast?
Do I just have to watch that on my tablet?

Will that work on an iphone? I don't really have access to a real laptop or desktop and my tablet is a surface 1 (not pro) so it can't use chromecast either.

Its sounds like a good deal except no AMC or SEC. It wont be long before a la carte programming options are the norm. Then cable companies will become simply ISP and jack up the rates.

Roku with Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and Plex with the LetMeWatchThis App

basically if I can't get it on the first 3, I can watch whatever I want with Plex and the LetMeWatchThis app. Its awesome.

I also have HBOGo, watchESPN, DisneyJr. etc with my parents login info...

I just found out yesterday that Comcast is already headed there. They are doing data capping trials in my area. 300GB per month I think is the most you can get. $10 more for 50GB increments over.

I don't think they are charging if you go over right now, but frick them anyway. I'm looking for other options, but would be surprised if I find anything the fricking bastards.

I cut the cord over a year ago. I can still watch any tv show in full without commercials online as soon as it finishes airing on tv, and sometimes even before it airs. I can also watch any sporting event live. You just have to find the right websites and be ok with the admittedly grey morality of it.

I do not know about sportscenter or news channels, however, but I never watched those anyway. I get all the news I need via reading it on the internet.

Currently using a Android box hacked with XBMC on it. I just pay for the highest tier of cox internet. (No Filter) I get the 1-60+ channels free. Navi-X has about anything everything you may want. Only draw back is no SEC network as of yet.
