Sorry for asking something so stupid. I have a dell desktop, how can I connect to a wireless router with this computer?

You need a dongle.
ETA:
I've probably got one or two somewhere around the house but you can buy them for as little as $10.
How far away from the router is the desktop? If it's a decent distance you should get a high gain adapter.

If you don't have one built in then you need to either buy a wireless network card or a wireless USB adapter. The simplest and cheapest option is the USB, it's just plug and play, but that means you pretty much permanently tie up a USB port.

Either run a cable, or get a wireless adapter for the desktop. The easiest would be to get a USB wifi dongle.
edit: whoops, too late. I need to remember to refresh tabs that I've had open for a while before replying.
