Mother of child found dead in well charged with negligent homicide

Unless the mother was high or drunk (or some similar circumstance), criminal charges in this case are uncalled for.

Allowing your 4 year old to be unsupervised for 4 hours isn't negligent at all?

I hate to point fingers at the mother when a child dies tragically, but from day one, I thought this was the case. I cannot fathom letting a child so young out if my sight for even a few minutes. Much less hours. And then the aunt was shouting lawsuit and blaming the city. The family was at fault here, and that poor baby paid the ultimate price for his mother's negligence.

Me, too. And as a mother, it feels very wrong to me to blame the mother. But, I can't see how this was anything but an avoidable tragedy if she'd just watched her child.
