Haha, I thought about doing that be decided I'd rather be loose with the idea of what's a "Mardi Gras song." I.e., is "Born on the Bayou" really a Mardi Gras song? No, but it fits in my mind. At the same time, Fats and Fess doing Mardi Gras in New Orleans is cool in my book because those are both such big name performers as opposed to smaller covers.

I got Fats added but forgot the Meters. I don't think I had either of those two Galactic pics either. Thanks!

My Spotify playlist now has more than 100 songs.

As I mentioned some -- like the CCR, the Cash Money, the zydeco -- aren't directly Mardi Gras songs, but I put them in because they fit in my mind (party songs with Louisiana feel).

HeadyBrosevelt — I couldn’t find any of the three you suggested on Spotify to add to my running playlist, but those are solid picks nonetheless.

NoSaint — the “Gypsyphonic Mardi Gras (Full Mix) track is surprisingly legit considering mashup stuff isn’t usually my favorite.

Zappas Stache — Thanks for the suggestion but I’m not feeling the Mardi Gras mood in that one.

Marco Esquandolas — I got “Take Me to the Mardi Gras” and “That was Your Mother” added to my Spotify list.

Mr. Hangover — No clue how I missed Buckwheat Zydeco but I added a few picks into the Spotify list.

LSUDuke — I got La Danse des Mardi Gras by Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys on the Spotify list. This song became one of my favorites when I lived in Lafayette. Solid suggestion!

LSU2006 — I, too, eat a peach for peace everytime I’m in Georgia, but you gotta do better than dropping Fess 10 posts into a Mardi Gras song suggestion thread.

ChoupiqueSacalait — I’m not sure if I’ve heard those two before, but I like both. Sadly, neither appears to be on Spotify so I can’t add them there.

I'll keep adding to the Spotify playlist as I think of, and y'all suggest, more songs.

It's one of the most iconic Mardi Gras songs and no one had mentioned it yet. Sue me and/or GTFO

chillygentilly — I added “Meet De Boys on De Battlefront,” but I couldn’t find the two Wild Magnolias songs on Spotify. Instead, I just added two other songs of theirs that were available.

GreatLakesTiger24 — You better believe I already got “Get it Ready” on there.
