The car has 2 bulbs in each light. When the lights are turned on the 2 bulbs both come on dimly on both sides. When the brakes are pressed down the lights on the left side become brighter while the right side lights don't and stay dim.

Any chance this is a bulb problem? I wouldn't think considering the bulbs come one, also why would both bulbs in the same light go out at the same time? Is it a wiring issue? Short somewhere and not getting the directive that the brakes are pressed?

Thanks in advance

If they are dual filament bulbs, check to see if the second filament is bad.

I get it... I'm on my phone... any help?

Worth buying some lights and changing them out? I doubt it.

Also any cops in here can answer this question: If you have 2 working brake lights (side light and top middle light in back windshield) is that considered legal?

what kind of car. Year/Make/Model. This will help out in telling you what could possibly be wrong.

You need a new brake light bulb.

ETA: It's like $2, easy fix

2005(I think) Malibu

It's actually 2 bulbs in each light. Both bulbs turn on when the headlights are turned on, so they aren't burned out

I hope that is the issue

Second this question. I have a middle and right side working but left has a short. Wondering if I'll get a ticket for this

Brake lights have a running light and a Brake light. Sounds like the brake light is out on one side.

Yes, it is the same issue I just had on my truck. Popped out working (but not working bulb) put the new one in abakadabra, brake light works again.
