This has been discussed in different threads, but I think a dedicated one is needed now that 2014 is in the can. I don't know much of who is owed what in contracts next season, so those numbers will help in determining who needs to be trimmed. I believe Colston and Lofton are candidates for cuts if memory serves, but correct me if I am wrong.

Offense:

QB - We are set here. Maybe draft for future replacement if talent fits draft slot.

RB - Depending on the Ingram signing (I think he will resign), but we are good here for everydown purpose. We need a speed back though.

WR - Colston is not the same player, and he is not cheap. We need that 6'2"+ size WR to control the field and allow our speedsters to run free

TE - none

T - none, though backups for future at RT are desired

G - Overpaid under-performers here. Desperate need to upgrade at both spots

C - Weakest position on our O-Line. Absolutely must address this offseason

Defense:

DT - an upgrade at NT is a must. Jenkins was a huge disappointment this year, though he did play better the second half than he did the first (wasn't he benched to start the season?). NT is critical for any 3-4 system to work, and we are struggling right now

DE - we are fine, but there is concern. Both Hicks and Jordan underperformed, yet both have been great in the past. I am perplexed as to why they played so poorly this year. Jordan is especially concerning. He will be playing for a new contract this season, and part of me thinks he doesn't deserve one after this past season. Will he be that player who stars in a contract year and disappears after his payday? So, depth for potential future start is desired here.

MLB - Need. Speed must be upgraded here. We all loved Mosley last year for this spot (Baltimore got a steal with him), and it is still thirsting for talent.

OLB - Huge need. We have Gallette and the field, and the field didn't do jack or shite for us this year.

CB - Huge need. Lewis is our best defensive player. After him? See OLB for explanation. Hopefully SJB grows into a good player, and this will alleviate some concerns here

S - we are set here, though they did under-perform

Ranking of need:

OLB
CB
C
G
MLB
WR1
RB3
DT
DE
RT
QB
S
TE

Free agency can fill many of these positions. Who are some FA's that would be good fit/value in 2015?

ETA: after it being pointed out that Jenkins lack of production early on can be contributed to his recovery from injury, I have since moved DT down my list a bit.

Torn pec. He was injured to start the season and then came back out of shape

Here's mine.

I really wish we would have got to see more of Lelito to know what we have there, but I'm thinking he fills either the spot at Center, or Guard. It's pretty tough for me to rank ILB, OLB, CB, G/C. If we can take care of these 4 needs between FA and the first 2-3 rounds, then we should be right back at the top next year. Easier said than done, though.

Tie- OLB, ILB (Hard to put on over the other)
CB
C/G (depending on where the put Lelito)
WR1
DT
RB3
DE
OT
QB
S
TE

I remember him being out of shape. Didn't recall the torn pec though. This makes sense, and I feel a bit less stressed about the NT position. I still think it can be upgraded, but not necessarily as big of a need as other positions.

it's not the formation that's the problem. it's the players. plus we aren't a 3-4 or 4-3 team; we are really more of a hybrid of the two that often trots out 3 safeties

We have a mix of 3-4 and 4-3 players. We are a fricking mess on defense.

Need to build our LB corp. They're arguably the weakest position on our defense and that is saying a lot about the #2CB.

I think athletic LBs is what this team really needs. I'm surprised Ronald Powell never got a good chance to show his ability on the field besides special teams. Having good LBs will force offenses to throw outside instead of down the middle of the field, which is our biggest weakness. Look at Carolina with Keuchly and Davis. They hardly ever get beat down the field because of their ability to stop the easy short passes.

As for the offense, we need new blood at the center position. Perhaps Lelito will move to guard like he is meant to play, and hopefully we draft a decent center. It sucks because we could have had a starting center in the 4th round, but instead we choose fricken Khairi Fortt. I knew that pick wouldn't pan out right when I saw his name on there. I had heard of every player we drafted except him.

I think this has to become #1 & #2 bc you have to prepare for Galette being out for the first 6 games of the season.

I'm with you on the athletic LB. This is why they drafted Fortt. Just because you never heard of him didn't mean he wouldn't be any good. Did this draft suck? So far it's a resounding yes. Like I tell my annoying friend who claims Nostradamus status due to declaring this a bad draft immediately afterwards: he claims this every year, so finally being right does not mean he knew what the hell he was talking about.
