Sarver is understood to have initially contacted the Rangers board last month with a view to an £18m offer for control of the club and the news was confirmed in a statement released to the Stock Exchange on Monday.

The Rangers statement read: "The Company notes recent press speculation and confirms that it has received an approach from Robert Sarver (or a vehicle to be established and controlled by him) ("Mr Sarver") that may or may not lead to an offer being made for the Company.

"There can be no certainty that an offer will be made, nor as to the terms on which an offer may be made. A further announcement is expected shortly."

The statement added that Sarver must make an offer or withdraw his bid by 5pm on February 2.

Abu Diaby could probably make it through a month without injury

Just like Mike Ashley was?

Meanwhile, a crisis loan temporarily holds off an HMRC winding-up order

The loan was made to prevent the club being wound up, BBC Scotland reported today.

This keeps getting better

Rangers have rejected an £18m takeover offer from American Robert Sarver, the club has announced to the Stock Exchange

quote:

It emerged on Sunday night that the owner of NBA side Pheonix Suns wanted to buy a controlling stake in the crisis-hit Ibrox outfit.

But the recent purchases of significant shareholdings by Dave King and the Three Bears group – wealthy fans Douglas Park, George Letham and George Taylor – soon made any such move highly unlikely.

And now the club's directors – who are still looking for emergency cash, despite announcing a £500,000 loan from football board chairman Sandy Easdale on Monday – have confirmed they have knocked back Sarver's offer, which they consider too low.

However, they have encouraged him to work with other supporters to help find a solution to Rangers' financial problems,

Yea but its more just needing money for operating cost he would be able to wipe it clean tomorrow if this gets approved.

so could Mikey Ashley but he will use it to promote Sports Direct.

Basically Ashley right now is trying to take the club over by having his friends he fund buy shares bc he can't be the majority owner of two UK clubs.

Don't let bhoy throw you off in this thread with his trolling agenda.

What? I'm not trolling. I'm telling the truth (just like I did before Rangers died and you and CanFAN said I was a troll and crazy, and look how that turned out).

Right now, the vultures (Ashley, King, Whyte, Green, Sarver, Brown, etc.) are circling and trying to (a) take as much from your idiotic fanbase as possible before they kill this version and (b) set things up so that they control the next version of Rangers.

Admin is coming, then Zombie Death.

Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver has made a revised £20m proposal to the Rangers board for a majority shareholding in the club.

The American financier had an initial £18m offer to buy a controlling stake in the crisis-hit Ibrox outfit rejected by the board earlier in the week, with the club stating that it undervalued the club and failed to address the immediate short-term requirements for cash.

Sarver’s new proposal involves a £6.5m short-term loan offer and he is prepared to increase his offer to buy out existing shareholders at 20p, rather than his original 18p.

Sarver said: “This new proposal hopefully helps the board deal with the short-term cash flow crunch and also addresses my desire to see the club back on a solid long-term financial footing.

“It will also enable Rangers to immediately repay the loans from Mike Ashley and Sandy Easdale, and free it of debt.
