Now I need a great way to cook it. I have never cooked deer before, so it will have to be pretty simple. I will also google it, lol. Thanks everyone.

Use a black iron pot.
Season the crap out of it with spices and herbs. Couple of tbsp of oil and sear the shite out of all sides. Almost burnt.
Remove roast, remove from heat, and lay down a bed of trinity about an inch deep. You can deglaze the pot a certain amout at this point, but not necessary. Put roast back in the pot.
Cover the roast in water or stock by about an inch. Put it in the oven at 275-300 for about 4 hours depending on the size.
Once it is fork tender done you can remove and thicken the gravy with cornstarch if desired.

Grind it and do anything you would with ground meat (assuming you add the necessary fat) or pressure cook it for about 10 min, pull all the meat away from the sinew. You can use this to make a stew or soup. That's about the only thing I do with a front shoulder because it's so tough and has so much connective tissue.
FYI: I'm assuming your going to debone it before you do any of the above.

This guy gets it. I do the same thing with neck roasts (my favorite) all the time. Delicious.

Exactly that except i don't use an oven. Just simmer with lid on, on the stove for 3 hours

I have done it both ways with similar results. I got to using the oven when at work so I don't have to worry about boil overs and a consistent time. Never had to worry about scorching the bottom because I couldnt stir it.

We always salt and pepper it.. Put in pan with water about a third of the way up. Cover with aluminum foil. Place in oven for 5 hours at 350 or until meat easily comes off of bone. We then shred it and add BBQ to it. Makes great BBQ sandwiches.

Everything he said, but I add a pound of sliced mushrooms when the trinity is 3/4 done and cook it at 325 or so.
