I'm looking to get rid of an old Dell Inspiron 8100. Turned it on for the first time in years and it surprisingly works well.

Wrong. Wipe them, then donate them to a school. There's a Louisiana tax form you'll need to get sigs on, but you get 40% of the value back on your state taxes. Or Ebay.

This is for computers in general, not necc yours.

How is value determined? Keeping in mind an XP-era computer may not net even $100 in the real market, not really worth the time and forms for a $40 deduction. But, if the valuation rules are more generous and the PC is old as shite, could be something to consider.

Last time I tried to do this the schools were not interested.
