Hunter is a great prospect, great raw talent, very athletic, but not in any way shape or form ready for the NFL. His moves have never progressed, he continues to easily get beat by offensive tackles. Made absolutely NO impact on the ND game. He got owned and pushed around. He has the exact same frame as MINGO. Mingo accounted for 16 sacks in his career to Hunters 4.5 It will benefit him to stick around. In the eyes of Cleveland Browns fans Mingo has been a bust. He wasn't ready to leave, that is part of the reason it is taking him so long to adjust to the NFL. I hope Hunter comes back, not just to help LSU, but to help himself. His move-set is weak.

Not really relevant. You don't have to be ready to be drafted and make a roster and get paid.

he's a LB in the NFL, he was 2nd on the team in tackles and 1st in TFL which means he can play in space. Mingo was a sack specialist here, other than size their games are not even similar

theres about 3 million differences between making a roster and getting drafted early. Freak Johnson should have been a very loud wake-up call to the guys on our defense.

Yea, his measurables will shoot him up the board.

I agree he isn't ready but someone that physically gifted is going attract scouts.

And nobody, including him, thinks he will be "drafted early".

The new rookie wage scale doesn't put that much difference in the middle to late rounds.

His body and physical ability say otherwise. NFL scouts aren't super concerned with the fact that he can't rush the passer. They figure their team's coaches can teach him how to better do that in the NFL. They can't teach him to be 6'6" 250. Every year there are guys that go high in the draft with just average to good college production, while great college players slide down the board. Why? You can coach everything else. You can't teach God given size and athletic ability

He's barely SEC ready. Not likely to make an NFL roster next year. He's not better than Michael Sam. This specimen crap needs to stop. If you can't do it against our LSU competition, you arent going to do it in the League. Coaches don't have time for projects.

THIS

He's not nearly strong enough. Needs to pack on 12-15 and gain strength in his senior year. Then he should be ready IMO...

Could say the same thing about all our juniors this year. They're still gonna bolt regardless.

Same story, different year.

True. But, that's not the only factor that should be considered.

Very rarely do players fall out of the league due to their age. Only the great ones do that. In other words, if he's got the talent to play 5 years in the league, financially it doesn't make much difference in which years he will make it.

Also, he needs to consider the factors that correlate to getting a 2nd contract. There is a big difference between getting drafted in the top 3 rounds and getting drafted later.

Also, he needs to consider what route gives him the best chance to get that 2nd contract. Coming in more mature and as a better player could be the difference between playing time and/or being a developmental type who is on the roster.

Later round picks are also more likely to be in a situation where there is an entrenched player already playing his position.

It's just not that simple. Unless he's a top 3 round pick (he may be) you could make a very good case for him staying. And, if he's a 3rd round pick, but is capable of moving up to the 1st round (not everyone fits this description), you could make a very good case for him staying.

Very frustrating watching him bull rush all day while the QB has all day to throw. On the other hand he is money against the run. How many TFLs on the season?

All of the Juniors could use another year before the NFL. However, until we get a new DC, etc, they have no idea what to expect as we have a huge unknown. Depending on how it develops, more may stay or leave. Not like the draft is tomorrow.
