I love this show. I know it has gotten mixed reviews, on and off this board, but I love pirate stuff.

It bogs down at times, but I'm looking forward to Season 2.

Oh yeah forgot to mention, I work in TV business and my starz contact said season 2 would be its last

Said its too expensive and reviews/ratings weren't what they were hoping.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht virtually assured a third-season pickup of its Michael Bay-produced pirate drama Black Sails at last summer’s TCA, and today the pay cable network made it official at New York Comic-Con, more than three months ahead of the series’ second-season premiere, set for January 24.

Good contact

I thought the show was very well done, and after a rewatch the first season really just sets the stage for the action to come. I think it was better for them to kind of show how everything works rather than jump head first into cannons and battles. The last couple of episodes were really solid and the trailer for season two makes it look on a whole different level than the first.

I agree. I guess part of it for me is that it caused me to look into a part of history that I didn't know anything about. The light research has been fun.

I like the characters and the way that today's villain becomes tomorrow's protagonist.

I grabbed a cheap bottle of rum called Calico Jack around the time I first started watching the series and after my first bit of research I realized "Calico Jack" was the character/real life pirate Jack Rackham.
