If you get a new phone and log in with your existing Google account, all of your previously installed apps and their settings will automatically install. Your contacts will auto-sync and will be restored. Your photos should be backed up to G+ (if auto-backup is not turned on in G+ settings, do that now). The only things you will be missing would be data created by apps that don't back up to google drive or elsewhere (like maybe voice recordings, downloaded files, things like that).

There are more ways to do it on Android. For starters, your Google account is backing all your shite up as well, to 15GB of free storage instead of 5GB, and if you backup photos at reduced size, photo backups are unlimited. In addition, I'm using Titanium backup which essentially will restore my phone exactly as it was at the time of backup.

I'm not sure what the worst thing about Android is, actually.
