Roxy, a 2-year-old Boxer mix, was adopted from the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter. Her owner, Christina Dennis

Travis Severio, 33, of Livingston, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was released Monday after posting $25,000 bond.

Severio lives two lots from Dennis. He said Roxy was on his lot near his chicken pen.

"I come out here trying to get the dogs away from my chicken pen over there and it come after me, try to bite me, so I went and grabbed my gun and tried again," Severio said. "She chased me back over here to the end of my trailer and that's when I shot it."

shocker

quote:

"I was just shooting to shoot the dog because if I was shooting to kill, I would have killed it right there," Severio explained.

If true, why was he arrested? I thought LA had laws allowing you to shoot animals who are treating your own. That might be somewhere else though.

What was the charge? Impersonating a police officer?

Sheriff Jason Ard said by looking at Roxy's blood trail, the dog was at the edge of Severio's yard towards his driveway, not near his chicken pen. He added deputies never found any dead ducks or cats and even though they were called out back in October, Severio chose not to file a formal complaint.

well I certainly don't condone what that white trash, redneck, chicken shite piece of garbage did, but the dog's owner should keep her dog in her own yard. Can't really blame him for shooting the dog if its on his property.

A dog shooting, a trailer park and a pic with a girl in an LSU shirt.

Sounds like trash is going to be trash.

This is why you're supposed to shoot to kill then drag it off. Wounded dogs always attract attention

I didn't say that. I'd have probably let the dog slide as it appears the guy shot it at the edge if his property. Strange dog is on my property, threatening my livestock or anything else, and I'd probably shoot it too. It's still a white trash festival regardless in this case tho.

How ironic coming from a sister humpin' gump. I guess the lesson here is trash is really good at identifying other trash. Go back to sniffing little boys bicycle seats over at the park ya meth peddler.

There's a leash law in LP, I wonder why the dog's owner wasn't cited? Sounds like they are playing favorites and any half arse attorney will get have those charges dropped.
