That, and the fact that Matt Ryan has the most inappropriate nickname in sports.

He wears the towel on his head because he has ears like sloth from the Goonies.

Take the game today: He completed 10 passes for 112 yards and had two picks dropped by the Falcons. However, his defense held Atlanta to 3 points and scored two touchdowns. The Panthers have had a nice run, but Newton is just along for the ride.
He ran for 51 yards also IIRC.

You can look at whatever stats you'd like but Cam was excellent today. He only had to basically play one half so looking at his stats is a little silly. His running ability also opens up a lot of the other stuff they did in the running game with Stewart and those two big reverses to Philly Brown.
He certainly has played poorly in some games and still has a lot to improve upon but, as has been mentioned, he's doing about as well as can be expected with probably one of the bottom 5 supporting casts in the league and Mike Shula as his OC.
I guarantee if you told any team drafting a QB #1 overall that they would go from the worst team in the league to having a record breaking, multiple Pro Bowl making QB, with two division titles they would all take it 100 out of 100 times.
