Yes Drew has made some bad throws/decisions with the ball, but if you think he's the problem with the offense then you simply don't have a fundamental understanding of the game of football.

One doesn't need a fundamental understanding of football to see that the team was bad overall. Not just Brees, the oline, secondary, or Dline. Could Brees have been better with better protection? Probably. But if you can't see that age is catching up to him and his "skills" are regressing, than you need a tutorial on football fundamentals. At least two picks today were based on poor decisions, let alone physical ability. Again, he's a hero to the Saints nation (as he should be) but blindly defending him as if he can do no wrong is ignoring the fact that he is an aging superstar in a game that thrives on youth.

Stats or no he had a down year in limiting turnovers. He had a down year in first quarter scoring(really big for us). He had a down year in winning at home. He had a down year in leading the team to a winning record.

He's done for this year.
One year like this one is not near enough to call him done moving forward.

Wasn't he less than 20% against the worst defense in the NFL just 2 weeks ago with the deep ball (1 of 8 at some point). Or was that before Atlanta?

You want to use one games worth of stats for deep ball percentage over a seasons worth?

He was also 2/5 which would put him ahead of his boy stafford for the year who's accuracy rating is 39% on the year (compared to Drew's 52.5%) for deep balls

and yes, i obviously think highly of Brees (along with PFF) as a Saints fan. I do, unlike some, make a statistical effort to support my arguments to offset that.

Any time someone tries to use those annoying things called statistics against Brees or Graham, it doesn't work out well.

Drew is the master of avoiding rush from the edges by stepping up in the pocket and stepping into his throws downfield. The absolute garbage play of the interior line (Grubbs, Goodwin, Evans) forced Brees to have limited pocket mobility and have some really bad throws this season when pressured. Armstead and Strief are serviceable tackles but we absolutely must upgrade at center and at least one guard.

Only to a certain extent. Every qb has some sort of yardage that doesnt mean anything but for some reason these tards only think it applies to Brees.

1. He was horrible against THE WORST defense in the league.

2. I'm reserving further comment on his statistics until I sit down and figure things out when I return home. I will eat my words if he was one of the best statistically in the first half or when games were still competitive. I would be shocked if he didn't get a large portion of his stats in junk time with defenses 15 yards off the ball tbh. But if I'm wrong I will admit it.

I will admit he is better than most options. I just won't pretend there aren't better options out there. At one point he was the best option for any offense. I'm not so sure anymore.

He becomes average with a crappy oline.

Give Brees a line and commit more to the running game. Look what it did for dallas. Even with a shite defense 12-4

Not necessarily. He's not in peak form, but he has two seasons left at least of qb play to prove what he has left

He still is the MVP of this team. He has lost the ability to do it all by himself and his decision making has suffered greatly. The Saints have no chance of making the playoffs for the next 2-3 yrs without him ,so get him some more players upfront.

We really didn't have that many games with garbage time, especially early in the season

What do you consider a large portion

Brees had a down year. He had a strained oblique early in the season, guard play had gotten worse. He had several dropped passes, and he did force too many passes.

We are talking about a guy who's off year is better than 85% of the league. His stats aren't that different from seasons of past, but the INTs have come at much worse times than in the past. Drew still has 3 good years left in him. Until then, let's shore up the OLine for our future QB to have the same success as 09' DB.

Stafford isn't all that great. How good was he without CJ this year?

6TD 5 INTs comp pct of around 55%

Even with CJ around(and to a lesser extent tate) he's been average.

I'm pretty sure there's more ppl to blame than just Brees for this.

Junk time passing yards. His TD:INT ratio is horrible. It's even worse after playing the worst team in the league.
