I can't take anyone seriously who doesn't think an apostrophe is punctuation

The south mostly just votes along racial lines. Whites see the GOP as their party and blacks see the Dems as theirs. That is just sorta how most of the voting south is.

Not so much for the rest of the country. Dems will keep winning general elections unless the GOP does a 180 on their economic policies.

The difference between "your" and "you're" is NOT an apostrophe. They're two different words.

Jesus H Christ the Righties on this board are stupid.

The white working class has no place in the new democratic makeup. Minorities, media, millenials, and elites (economic and pseudo intellectuals).

There's almost enough of these demographics to throw away the white working stiff.

You don't need to apologize for anything, I was making fun of Vegas Bengal for criticizing other peoples' spelling and punctuation when he had plenty of errors in his posts as well......

Yea, I'm amazed at all those black senators coming out of Oregon and New York and California and Minnesota and Washington state. South could really learn something from the rest of the country about being unbiased.

how come all the black pundits on the news channel say we need to "discuss" this shite, then soon as someone does, they're labeled hateful and racist? So which is suppose to be healthy, the discussion or the silence?

I am blanking on the name but a high profile Dem recently made some waves by arguing essentially the same point. Was it Chuck Schumer?

The Democrats have played effective identity politics and have certain constituencies wrapped up, but they went big on health care - an issue that only helped some still-to-be-determinted minority of people - and did little to get the general economy moving. Plus, the importance of social issues seems to be fading. Advantage to the GOP with middle and lower-middle class whites.

But ... what if the economy continues to improve and is doing well come 2016? I doubt that GOP will then be able to make much hay on the economy, putting other issues at the forefront.

It's liberal Fascism. They don't want debate. They want enforced ORTHODOXY. No debate. Nor real discussion even. They just want to LECTURE and SLUR. But it doesn't work anymore, because everybody quickly recognizes their lapdog liberal intolerance (racist!).

Look, the Dems losing the white working class is THE big issue in Dem strategy sessions. Democratic strategists Stanley Greenberg and James Carville are having this discussion. There are books out there making the rounds. The NY Times continues to discuss it, and the implications for the Dems. I bring it here respectfully, and immediately several knee-jerk liberals lose their shite and get personal. The point is obvious, many liberals believe issues of class and race are ONLY to be discussed by liberals.

Regardless, the TOPIC is the important thing, not the shamefully predictable liberal reaction to it. What the political scientists recognize that politards don't, IS THAT THE WHITE WORKING CLASS ABANDONMENT OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IS NOT ENTIRELY REGIONAL. Sure, it's more pronounced in the South, for now.But as the Dems have become associated with special interest politics that HURT THE WORKING MAN (coal in WV, fracking in NY state, Obamacare everywhere) that wide swath of Middle WORKING CLASS America are leaving the Dems behind. This obviously includes married women and an increasing number of non-white working class Americans who despite what LIBS HERE SAY, ARE NOT HONOR-BOUND TO CONTINUE VOTING FOR DEMS.

Funny, for a group that pride's itself on personal responsibility, no one considers the possibility the GOP itself may play a role in the fact no minority group votes for them, even the "self-reliant/hard working" ones. Nope, ita all the dems and media. Interesting.

It doesn't take a genius to see that democrats have been pandering to voting blocs. It just takes someone who is willing to open his eyes.

Huh? You do realize the South has much larger percentage of blacks than states anywhere else, right? Even NY state is less than 18%. States like Oregon and Minnesota barely have any blacks at all. The Deep South is primarily anywhere from 25-40% black not counting FL. MS, LA, and SC have the largest percentages. Not an excuse but the likelihood is much less

And the GOP has lost vast support among pretty much all minority groups. Why do you think that is?

GOP hasn't had the black vote since the 50s and we didn't lose it due to the CRA because the GOP voted overwhelmingly for it. Dems bought the black vote through welfare and propaganda over time by systemically destroying the black community through entitlements then telling them the GOP hated them when we tried to reverse said policies.

We usually do ok with Asian voters. Obama won them but other elections and the past midterms had Asian voters in GOP favor. We have shown we can do well with Hispanics though we did a poor job courting them the past 2 elections. They are similar to Irish immigrants of the early 20th century, they'll vote for big govt at first because they have little money and need help but they are hard working and will eventually work up to middle class and become more conservative

But that shouldn't matter if we take the posters assertion that the entire country, outside of the south, does not vote along racial lines as fact. The racial percentages of these states is not a factor. Only their pure hearts and blind eyes to race comes into play.

Thre are very few blacks in the senate and it only takes an half second to notice one is a republican from the south.

I think voting will begin to fall more and more along racial lines counteracting the demographic shifts the democrats are praying will give them a monopoly on the White House. The hispanic vote may soon be the only one up for grabs.

With that in mind, it seems like the emergence of this Race Grievance Outrage de Jour will be catastrophic for the Democrats.

I think the evaporating clout of union labor in the Midwestern states is going to create an opening for the trend you see in the south spreading to part of the rest of the country.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say that the Democratic party is intentionally shutting out middle and working class white voters with the kind of rhetoric being carelessly thrown around.

The GOP needs to reach out to black voters, and Democrats need to stop their bleeding among white voters. The democrats are going to depend on messages of fear and hatred to keep their black supporters in line, and republicans will continue hollow promises involving social issues to reinforce their support among rural whites. Both of those strategies turn off moderate independents.

I woke up today and this was on the front page of Yahoo. LINK JIM WEBB talking about the same thing as my Original Post. Since the subject is being discussed by a Democrat and the article is written by a white liberal on a page that has an overwhelmingly liberal slant. I guess it's ok for Liberals to read it. But I caution you, it's clearly Incorrect Thought manifesting as Hate Speech, so you might want to be extremely careful as you emerge from the Liberal Fever Swamp or you might read something that activates your "RACIST !!!!!" tic/reflex/auto-reaction.

quote:

Democrats, as you probably know, have been losing white voters, and especially white male voters, by pretty staggering margins in recent elections, particularly in rural parts of the country. According to exit polling, the party’s candidates won only 34 percent of white men last November; the 30-point spread between the two parties was the largest in 20 years.

Go to any activist meeting or liberal dinner party, and chances are you will hear a pretty consistent narrative to explain this trend. Basically, it goes like this: White men, and especially Southern white men, are just inherently racist and afraid of social change, and so they’re easily manipulated by Republicans and have turned their backs on Obama. But that’s really OK, because the demographics of the country are rapidly shifting, and very soon there will be enough black and Latino voters — not to mention women of all races — to tip the balance of any national election into the Democratic column.

Webb finds this theory downright offensive. In his view, Democrats have focused so much of their rhetoric and their programs on racial minorities that they’ve basically forgotten about all those white, working-class voters who face some of the same economic hardships but feel like all the focus is on the poor.

“I think this is where Democrats screw up, you know?” Webb told me. “I think that they have kind of unwittingly used this group, white working males, as a whipping post for a lot of their policies. And then when they react, they say they’re being racist.”
