The Kill List (2012)

just got done watching this and i just wanted to rush over and recommend the movie (it's on netflix) if you are in a dark mood or seeking out a dark movie. it's a cross-genre movie, based around the crime genre, building into a thriller, and ending as a horror film.
this is just a creepy, atmospheric movie that slow burns into high tension leading to a crazy final portion
thinking about the movie, it's one that you have to watch to experience. the story can be picked apart, but the creepy factor is real
plus, you get to see the bike messenger from spaced play a hit man

I almost rented this from video store (I know, old people problems) like 3 times, but never pulled the trigger. I'll give it a go now.

It's definitely intense and worth the watch. No Babadook though.

fun fact: i actually told somebody to watch the babadook while watching kill list

guy is making some really interesting movies right now. A Field in England looks totally bananas and has been at the top of my watch list for far too long.

Report back, please. I just added this to my queue.

Watching it right now, about halfway through. I had to turn subtitles on because I'm having a hard time understanding what they're saying with that thick accent (and these subtitles are like the worst ever). So far so good. Dark and tense

EDIT - Spoilers Next

Pretty violent movie. Got pretty weird in the last 20 minutes. Might be a spoiler, but my days of watching A Serbian Film prepped me for that ending and made it predictable :/
Also, maybe I turned the subtitles on too late because I'm not sure what the point of the whole thing was. Who were the people that hired them? Why were they "chosen" at the beginning by that chick? What was the significance of the cut on the hand? Why did the librarian say shite like "thank you" and "he doesn't know who you are" to Jay? Was it just some random cult thing with no explanation?
Maybe I missed everything important

i had to do this too. first time ever for a british movie. i grew up watching BBC shows and i always had the accent. their street talk, mumbling, low mics, etc made it impossible

i'd put a big spoiler warning at the top of that post

they were talking about the IRA throughout the movie

Must have missed that. They were ex-IRA or something? What the hell happened in Kiev?

remember the talk at dinner about how all the religions are the same and the conflict, blah blah? that was about ireland

Kinda, that was pre-subtitles though.
Seems like I have a lot of unanswered questions this movie didn't address and they just wanted to get to the shocking ending.

I guess kind of knowing what was going to happen at the end ruined it for me

i tried to keep the description as minimal as possible in the OP. i almost didn't want to use the horror description
