We all know cornerbacks are one of the toughest positions in the NFL to translate.

Remember that guy, Justin Gilbert, who a lot of us wanted, but were never going to get going into the draft?

Well he was the 8th overall pick, made 2 starts, and was passed on the depth chart by 2 UDFAs, a 4th rounder, and was benched at times. Sure he does play, sparingly, but the expectations were deflated rather quickly compared to SJB's.

I can't believe people find this topic so interesting.

We have nothing to discuss.

A highly drafted rookie getting benched is extremely common and nothing like SJB's season.

This is gonna be one of the longest/worst off season's in Saint's history.

I dont really trust the saints coaches when it comes to defensive players, so them not playing him doesnt mean a whole lot to me. Watch him leave and go to the pro bowl.

You obviously weren't around for the bountygate and drew contract years. Uggggh.

He was drafted as a project player who was not even close to being ready for the NFL when he was preparing for the process. This was understood, the FO knew that. I'm not going to be upset unless he sits around getting fat for 4 seasons and then retires with having never played. It's been ONE SEASON. People are spoiled by the current rookie culture where a lot of rookies play and excel early. It hasn't always been this way. Rookies used to NEVER play.

I don't know why everyone is so stuck on this topic. SJB is obviously not ready yet which is evident by Payton playing multiple UFAs ahead of him. Get over it already!!

thats the point and at the worst case, we lose a late 2nd rounder. Cleveland on the other hand, if Gilbert never reaches expectations, lost a top 10 pick.

Drafts aren't 100% guaranteed, everyone needs to stop overreacting and thinking in hindsight.

Seems like the current NFL culture should apply to a current player.

The Saints drafted another bust and will probably trade away more picks next draft again. Drew and Payton are the only reason we win.
