I usually don't like when Hollywood softens a movie from the book to give Americans a feel good ending. But, The Natural just worked better with the happy, Rocky-esque ending.

I came here to say the same. I threw the book at the wall when I finished it

No Country for Old Men lived up to the book, which, in an era where that doesn't often happen, may make me lean toward the movie. But the book is better.

The ones ya'll have said that I disagree with:

Lord of the Rings: Seriously? Must be ADHD mellinials with the attention span and intellect of a gnat. I love the movies but the books are genius.

Same for Game of Thrones

I agree with Blade Runner and Fight Club.

I'll add The Wizard of Oz.

you are the first person I have ever seen who prefers the movie and has actually read the book.

I read the book and didn't think it was significantly better than the movie

I thought the giver was on the same level as the book... The hunger games is a better movie... The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie of all time and it surpasses the book imo

Crichton is a great writer - actually, I don't think I ever finished the book - I did read Andromeda Strain way after I first saw the movie - that film was fairly faithful adaptation of the story. He was so young when he wrote that, he must have started it in med school.

Timeline is one of my favorite books of the last 20 years. (I didn't think the movie was as bad as the critics thought it was - but certainly not approaching the quality of the book.)

Timeline movie was far inferior to the book. The movie felt cheap, like it was made for TV. Congo and Sphere are the same. Jurassic Park was a big budget movie and it showed. Even if the book was a little better, the movie did it justice.
