I know the person who turned all the footage over to WAFB and the cops. They watched it and said it was really bad for the cops. I haven't seen it.

It is all bad for the cops. The only incident was the passed out drunk girl who had been removed from the scene. There was no physical altercation until the cops grabbed his phone and shoved him to the ground. That's what sparked the confrontation. They haven't really mentioned this but the cops also pepper sprayed the crowd. This was a Christmas party that was exiting the Varsity. Let that sink in, they pepper sprayed Christmas party goers.

It seems to me like the cops escalated the situation.

That may all be fine and true and I believe it is.

But you are leaving out the part where apparently EMS had to call the cops because those Christmas party goers were interfering with their ability to attend to the passed out partier.

This situation won't be a "one side right/one side wrong" - IMO there will be wrong on both sides and I hope that it is adjudicated accordingly.

I had a BR cop put handcuffs on me once outiside of Bogie's trying to show off in front of a bunch of females standing around. I told him exactly what he was trying to do and he told me he would drink my blood... Wtf?!!! Lol

To be fair. I know a few ems guys. They will call the police over anything.

the report was that the crowd wouldn't let EMS in to attend to the drunk girl
police were called and when EMS got to the girl, some of the crowd were pulling the EMS people off of the girl tell them that she was fine.

city policy is that police are not sent with EMS for first aid calls.

I had friend once tell me that police are selective with candidates who show more than a certain level of intelligence. They don't want them getting bored with the job or moving on because promotions aren't as readily available. I didn't really buy into it the much. But when I see these videos, the lack of rational thought does stand out to prove him right.

there is a court case with this argument. teh supreme court allows cops to discriminate against people of higher intelligence

Granted the guys with the passed out girl were initially being defensive, but they eventually conceded to the EMS workers, then they took the girl away from the scene. Like I said, there was really no sign of violence until the cops did what they did and none of the people involved with the drunk partier were involved or arrested in the following incident.
