Thinking about picking up a German Shorthaired pup when I get back from work and having him fly with me to NC. Have any of y'all done this? What was your experience like? Any special regulation I should be aware of? Seems as simple as just checking him when I do.

They only allow so many dogs per flight so you have to call and book the dog before just showing up to The airport with it. If it's a pup you can get a small soft side carrier and carry on for placement under the seat. You will also need a health check form from the vet done within 10 days of flying.

If you are going to put it in the belly of the plane check with the airline for specifics.

It costs $100 extra for the dog fare as well.

Yep, I've flown with dogs domestically and internationally. It's like 1 dog and 1 cat in the cabin, max. And, one of each in the cargo area.

It may be easier and cheaper to rent a small, high gas mileage car and drive it one way

Get ya some acepromazine from your vet and figure out what dosage is best for him.

Enjoy paying more for your dog to fly than you.
