My 5 yo son was diagnosed with it earlier this week. Caught it pretty early and is fine now. Take your Tamiflu. You are contagious until you go more than 24 hours fever free w/o the use of medicine such as Motrin.

If you were just diagnosed today you may want to reconsider going to the party.

How did you test positive already? Your first symptom was last night and you already went to a DR for tests?

So you coughed and had a chill, so you go to urgent care 12 hours later? Is that what happened?

This, I am confused how he tested positive already unless he goes to the doctor for every cough.

Flu Shots

I thought I read that this year's flu shot isn't effective for the mutated strain that is affecting people this year.

Meh - I've had Type A before, and I remember very suddenly feeing like complete arse and knowing that something wasn't right. Glad I headed to the doctor straight away because a few of us had it, and I was the only one given Tamiflu right away. I was better days before everyone else.

Tested positive last year. Didn't have fever either. Waited too late for tamiflu. Chills, headache, stuffy nose, couldn't sleep at night. Sucked. Lasted a few weeks. Hope tamiflu helps u.

You'll feel better within 12-24 hours. Not contagious 24 hours with no fever. Yes, you can drink.

I deal with allergies and shite on the regular and when I had the flu a couple years ago I knew as soon as I got up that day that it was "different". It hit me quick enough that it was everything I could do on a Saturday to get dressed and drive to the Walgreens clinic to get a flu swab (was positive) and Tamiflu.

Tamiflu, Motrin and lots of Fluid.
Your welcome.
That would have cost you $700 12 hours ago.

Because it isn't covered by the shot. That's the direction of the causation.

Not covered in shot ---> the one most people get

instead of

the one most people get ---> not covered in shot

And that should be logical. The strain the goes unchecked spreads.

Symptoms can last 7-10 days. Tamiflu truly only works if taken within first 48 hrs of symptom onset, otherwise gonna have to ride it out. I had same after t-giving, and had flu shot before. Flu shot only covered 60-70%. Would not party if have fever, as will make u feel worse and possibly give to others.

Have a family Xmas party tomorrow night. Can I drink?

Don't be a complete inconsiderate a-hole and just stay home from the party. Especially if it's a family party where young children will be at.
