Soooo, with a week and a few days to go, YOU say my list of 6 is not realistic. Guess we'll see. I say we get these six:

WR D Charlot
DT J Washington
DE D Jackson
DE A Key
LB L Lewis
S J Reid

YOU say nothing more "we're in the mix" or "nope." Solid input to be sure.

At least I said something more than basically "we'll see." Something more than, "I'll piss on your predictions, I have none of my own I'll share, but that way I can hold myself out as right."

Only real candidates on that list

Gibson-very, very slim

Dillon-50/50 according to most but I still feel he flips

Weathersby-i think we get him

Key-we lead, he's visiting Auburn next week and an Auburn insider cbed him to USCe. Kids recruitment is as wild as any I've seen

Prince-honestly think him waiting until after is what tips us over and we get him. Not too concerned with Auburn. Bama is the threat IMO. Almost everyone close says Bama is starting to put their plan in place to get him. That's usually no good for anyone but Bama

Jackson-word is that we have cooled and its Stanford/Candy but he hasn't said it so he stays on the board for now

Lewis-im more confident than I usually am with MS kids but still think he sticks or flips to MSU

Peters-lets see if he visits

Reid-slim but who knows with his visit next week. Truth be told, Oklahoma, ND and Stanford want him a lot more than we do and have shown him as much so in no way would I be upset if we offered and he spurned us. What happens when you slow play a kid the way we have him, especially considering we aren't likely to fill the class and haven't been for months

Merritt-never had a chance and don't know why anyone ever lists him as a possibility. Kid wants nothing to do with LSU and I've never heard that our staff has pushed him at all since the spring

Charlot-whether public or not he's already recommitted to Bama. Even our staff knows. Tim Watts cbed him and that my friends is a lock

Washington-not even on the boars unless its the biggest secret of the year

Moton-we don't want him and he don't want us. He's going to commit to MSU but he's going to juco

Marshall-hes going to USC and has been for 2 years.

I'll stick with my predictions from several days ago

CeCe Jefferson (DE)
Arden Key (DE)
Prince Tega (DE)
Leo Lewis (LB)
Jamal Peters (S)
Weathersby or Robertson (have to hope for Weathersby but knew it wouldn't be both anyway) (OL)
Dillion or Charlot (think it will be Dillon now but once again, probably not room for both anyway) (WR)

Predicted we would lose Brossette to Texas...may still happen but if Texas gets one of the TX stud RBs (Samabo or Warren), I think he sticks with LSU

I don't think there's much chance of CeCe. Seems like we're #4 for him behind UF, Miss, and Burnt.

Agree on Key and Lewis (despite what others "think").

Prince could happen, especially with D Jackson now out of the picture.

The others seem like either or plays. I think we get Charlot over Bama, but if not we get Dillon over the Gates. I don't think we get Robertson, but I had Weathersby as my #26 so it could be him. As for Peters, I think it's him or J Reid. Personally, I think the odds are more to Reid, but we should get one of the two.

I don't think we lose Brossette. He had a good visit to UT, but by all accounts has had a great visit to LSU. And UT will get Warren for sure. And Samabo is highly likely. Those two plus T Houston? Why go there with those 3 when you can go to LSU with their 3? Same difference.

Only quoted the part I disagree with you on...specially the first part. The CBs are going nuts...first it was Florida...then it was Auburn...now most going for Ole Miss of the recent ones. You know what that tells me? They don't have the slighest clue! I'm leaning now that LSU gets Dillon...doesn't get Charlot but it could be your way also. I honestly don't think now that LSU wants both...how many WRers can you sign in a class when you just signed several last class.

My prediction is we get at least 3 of these, but not all 6. We finish with 22 total.

I like Arthur McGinnis, but at this point there has to be something the coaches know that we don't know. They haven't had any recent contact with him (including an offer) that's been made public. Also Foster Moreau is in the bag. He's tried to commit but I guess there are some issues holding off LSU's acceptance of his commitment due to class size expectations and whatnot. I'm excited for Foster because he's a natural receiving tight end. We've basically had either wide receivers or offensive tackles playing the position for a while now. He'll be a part of the class for sure. I'd agree with your adjusted comment then of getting 3 between Dillon, Weathersby, Leo, and Key. I think if we miss on one of them it happens with Weathersby or Leo.

I am hearing in MS that Ole Miss has locked up Leo Lewis over the weekend. I think we can probably take him off the wish list.

Eh, every time a recruit takes an OV and the visit goes "very well" (which is like 99% of the time), fans start beating their chests that they have that recruit in the bag. Look what we were saying about Arden Key, now that he's been out of Baton Rouge for a week or two we're more or less back to hoping. Nah I wouldn't let the Ole Miss fans tell you it's over just because he took an OV. I'll be convinced of him being all Ole Miss once he cancels our visit, which he hasn't.

Everything you have said makes 100% sense...however, they are offering him something that we cannot and will not offer...the starting Mike spot the day he steps on campus.

That is an issue with Peters too. State is offering him a starting safety spot the moment he steps on campus.

I'll say this too, Ole Miss is perfecting the bagman strategy. It has become a cultural phenomenon in Oxford for adult, wealthy men to descend on the small village in Lafayette County on Ole Miss' last big recruiting weekend to hang out with the recruits at the Library and other establishments. One can safely assume (so I am told) that high fives are not all that is being exchanged between these weird-o adults and top end recruits.

I really don't think LSU is any better or worse than any program regarding going the "extra mile" to land recruits. But that's just speculation. And while playing time is still a huge factor, I think players are getting smarter about picking a better developmental program over getting thrown on the field in august. There's a reason guys go to DBU instead of being able to start as a freshman at Texas A&M. And LSU can sell Lewis on being the only linebacker in this class, if nothing else. I'm just saying we have a good shot at the guy and the only solid evidence that can be used to say otherwise would be a cancellation of his visit on the 30th. Oh and regarding Jamal Peters, while I think he'd be a great addition, I don't see the stress on him. Xavier Lewis could very well end up at safety and we have multiple guys from last year's DB class who are looking to get PT at safety.

yeah, this visit will be key. I don't like any high profile kid visiting AU with a week left.

Will we not sign a full class & finish it like last year, picking up late signees like Jeter & Domond?

My prediction:

WR Dillon - I think he's one of the "silents"
OT Weathersby - I think we win battle with Arkansas
DE Key - Another one of the "silents", but also volatile - could see him at Auburn or South Carolina just as easily as LSU
LB Lewis - The one I'm the least sure about, hope he flips
S Reid - Might spurn us for Stanford (I would)

I'm not super sure Peters is visiting. And Jefferson seems like a long shot. I'd be interested to know why the sudden optimism about him from some. Robertson stated he's sticking with ASU. Gut feeling says Charlot signs with Bama.

Really hope Brossette sticks.
