You'll be fine. I mean I wouldn't go hang out in the Calliope Projects on MLK Blvd. but otherwise there is no reason to fear any sort of issues.

You said it yourself, New Orleans is New Orleans. That weekend won't be any different, for better or for worse.

thank you. We will be walking everywhere the whole weekend, so we'll try to stay in groups.

As I said I've been multiple times and had a great trip.

new orleans black pride festival. made the mistake of being in downtown with my gf that weekend last year dispite her telling me not to. she didnt talk to me for a week after.

Do y'all just not like being around black people? I live in the Quarter and Essence is never a problem. Essence doesn't bring trash like the Bayou Classic.

So, in conclusion......when you go to New Orleans, just stay in groups and don't visit suspect sections of town. :
What a learning experience this has been

fricking attention whore.

I don't think a group like y'all would enjoy where I hangout. If I were you I'd just hit up the Penthouse and some of the bigger "clubs" around the Quarter and WHD.

And you can post on the food and drink board if you need specifics about good restaurants and bars.

Seriously though, N.O. isn't a big pissed off riot city. They didn't riot and burn shite for the Saints superbowl or the NBA all star. Didn't do shite for LSU winning two NCAA championships there either.

They damn sure aren't going to fck stuff up because of MLK day.

Why do you say that? We're versatile. We're 29 but still get trashed, so we can go to "adult" bars where things are more laid back, or go to the younger places and throw down. At any rate, I wouldn't mind meeting up with a TDer and buying you a round.

New Orleans really doesn't have radicalized political blacks like Harlem, Chicago or even Atlanta; New Orleans just has a consistent criminal problem. You are just as likely to be a victim of crime on any day of the year (I'm sure there are some statistical anomalies). Enjoy your trip.

Exactly. I don't know if they are just too stupid or too lazy to do that kind of stuff.

They will damn sure cap your arse for a BS issue though.

In fairness the whites are them same way, very few radical white movements in New Orleans.

Most working whites prefer alcohol, whores and going to church on Sunday then marching for equality or a workers paradise.

Just treat it like you would any weekend in the Quarter. Stay together, keep your wits about you, and don't wander down empty back streets.

And leave the area before midnight.
