Reading an article on this incident and there's a quote from a protestor asking why the cop couldn't have tasered or pepper sprayed the thug POS.

Dude pulled a gun on a cop and people think the cop should have pepper sprayed the guy

frick all of you. I'm getting heated at the stupidity on both sides.

What do expect the parents to say? "Yeah, our son was a TPOS. He completely deserved what happened."

I have had several patients say in the ICU room or at the funeral of their wayward child that they understood the child's history of continued poor choices led to their illness and death. "I told them this would happen" is a common comment. Frequently lamenting,tThat they had reached out to help them multiple times but had been denied. I don't think I have ever had one where the parents praised their child for their choices or inappropriately judged their dead child's character. They all express that they held out hope of change though.

Hence, the "He was getting his life together" response.

That is not quite the same as holding out hope, as he stated. I guess mothers don't want to speak disparagingly of their kids in front of a camera, but will be more realistic off of it.

Why do y'all keep saying stupid crap like "If he pointed a gun at a cop"? If anyone points a gun at another armed person/me they are likely to get shot. Cops don't have more rights to shoot at someone pointing a gun at them than anyone else!

Yes, everybody knows that, but I think people are bringing a darwinistic component to it. Either way, he deserves it, but this way he can't go claiming he didn't think the situation would escalate. Not that he'd be able to claim that anyway.

The sheriffs in these St. Louis areas neighborhoods need to pull a Harry Lee....

Back in the late 80's, Harry pulled all of his deputies out of an area because complaints of police harassment, after (3) days, the residents were begging for police presence again.

The problem with this is, these aren't part of the sheriff's department. These are cops for these tiny municipalities. And these particular municipalities are the worst jobs that attract those that can't get jobs as cops anywhere else. It's not like they can pull out and go somewhere else. Unless they just get out of LE all together.

St. Louis has some really nice suburbs. I haven't been there in twenty years though. It can't be worse than Detroit I wouldn't think.

Outside of all the Michael Brown/Darren Wilson coverage, the rest of it is just the STL doing what the STL does.

I skipped a few pages. Did that strongarm girl post how the cop should have offered to assist thr tpos instead of shoot him? Strongsmell .. er, strongarm (whatever) has convinced me it's o.k. for the 13% of the population to commit 36% of the crimes because Lincoln only freed them 50% of the way. Ya'll should know that mean old cop has repressed this fine young man in his past. Shame on you.

No, hope of change would be expressed more like "We talked to him all the time about turning things around. These last two years he has been so caught up in the wrong things. We have kept praying for him to get away from them and have not given up hope, but apparently he was still hanging with the wrong people and carrying a gun."

Sadly recent campaigns have duped people into believing hope of an outcome equals action toward that goal.
