I would suggest living in The Woodlands, it's a great community with excellent schools. There is always something to do and see here. Also a very safe place to live.

Ive been through there a few times, its very nice but I think the commute would be rough.

Area aroundHobby Airport is great if you're the typical OTer who's too cool for the suburbs

I would look maybe in Pearland or Clear Lake? I have never lived in either but have had friends that did and it seemed ok. Probably the best areas "close" to east Houston.

More info needed. I work around Channelview. And live off Memorial. Ridiculous rent, but I'm single and love the location.

If you married with kids, don't live where I do. If you single, jump in. The water is fine. Shortest commute of my life. Better than BR, Houma, or NOLA.

If you married with kids, Kingwood/Atascocita

If you don't have to, there really isn't any reason to

I have family in Pearland, its nice. I'll look into Clearlake. We have 3 kids in school so a nice burb is what we're looking at. Anything north of the beltway within reasonable commute. Atascocita?

I just moved off of memorial and work downtown. Literally takes me longer to walk to my office after i parked then it does driving to work. i love it.

Unfortunately, there aren't any areas out towards Channelview that I would recommend. If you're ok with living further out, I think Mont Belvieu is a good area. I know a couple folks that live out there because they work at a refinery out that way and they said that was their best option.

That said, living inside the loop (on the west side of downtown) would be a better place to live as far as things to do. It will also be more expensive and you may have to pay for private school depending on where you move.

ETA - you may want to check out the commute from Clear Lake/Pearland to Channelview. I've heard it can be a shite show. Humble/Atascocita may not be a bad option since they finished the beltway between there and I10

They have a nice golf course called Eagle Pointe out in Mont Belvieu. Outside of that and the drag racing track, I don't think there's much else out there.
