What's the point of rooting for a team if you are a bandwagon fan though? Just to annoy everyone you know with shite talking?

The only point of that is to show how big of a dumbass you can be. Bandwagoners are the dumbest group of people on the planet, and no one is going to convince me otherwise.

Personally, I really don't care who someone cheers for. The world is so different these days. Your favorite player can play for 5 different teams within their careers, we have access to more games than ever before, etc.
The whole idea around here of telling people how they should enjoy sports and who they should or shouldn't be a fan of has to be one of the lamest and generally weirdest things on the MSB.

Also, StraightCashHolmey is gonna tear this thread apart when he sees it!!!

He's more likely to search around for my post in it first.

Don't kid yourself. You're an easy target and nothing else.

Now...if you aren't a fan at all and pick different teams that you enjoy watching every week, that's different. Because like you said, it's simply for your own entertainment. But to claim to be a "fan" of a different team year to year is blasphemy and those people suck.

This sums up my thoughts. If you admit your interest is casual then fine. I hated the people who jumped on a bandwagon and talked down to the locals because their team wasn't as good as the bandwagon du jour.
As a side note the bandwagon fans who were American and rooted for Brazil, Italy, Germany, Argentina, etc. with no ties to those countries in favor of the USA at the World Cup can DIAF. That was a whole other level of douchebaggery

its really funny how upset people get over bandwagoners though

I think it must be an extension of how some people seem to link their self worth with the team they root for. For someone to come along and just root for whoever is winning offends that sensibility.

If you root for the Yankees, Lakers, and Redwings don't expect me to find your fandom as interesting of a story as someone who roots for the Orioles and Redskins but I'm not going to waste emotional energy worrying about it.

That's exactly what it is...and why I tend to say almost weekly on the MSB that sports makes people act very weird.

I completely agree.

It's like telling people what kind of music or food they should prefer, or telling gay people that they should prefer the opposite sex.

It's a common idea on the Tiger Rant as well.

College is different. If you didn't go to the school, it's not really a legit fan interest.

This is pretty dumb. Downvote for you sir.

I love Auburn, and I like several pro teams. To some degree I understand where the author is coming from.

From the article:

Fans and boosters of college football should stay true to their schools through thick or thin because colleges play a larger role in society. NFL teams are strictly entertainment organizations. If the entertainment is bad, write 'em off. You wouldn't purchase a crummy album by a pop star. Why watch the games of a terrible NFL team?

They're not the Tampa Bucs. They're the Tampa Bay Bucs. Just saying.

It's more like telling gay people they shouldn't be straight next week and talk about how gross being gay is.

A lot of people in New Orleans went to schools like UNO, Loyola, Xavier, etc.

None of these schools have football teams, and most of them could care less about Tulane
how much less?

Suck my Raider loving cock. I'll watch every game every year and pay for Sunday Ticket to do so, 3-13 or not. Bitch.

To the Raiders wagon? We have plenty of room and no ticket has been needed for 10 years.
