theres also a difference between having a rooting interest in a team and being fan. im a laker fan. I always will no matter who is on the team or how the team is doing. however, since the lakers are still two or three years from being a playoff team in the west if we do our rebuild right and because I like the game of basketball as a whole, I have a rooting interest in several players/teams

I can agree with that. I will die an LSU fan, but I could see myself rooting for UGA or GATech if my kids end up going to either school.

Bandwagon fans are okay in pro sports.

College is different. If you didn't go to the school, it's not really a legit fan interest.

Dumb, I've been affiliated with the school that I work for, for longer than the two universities that I've attended.

So IYO it's perfectly fine to wait a few weeks into a season, see who's good, then be a "fan" of them? You realize "fan" means fanatic, right? This isn't some damn fanduel fantasy website..you can't be a fan of a new team every week or every season.

Now...if you aren't a fan at all and pick different teams that you enjoy watching every week, that's different. Because like you said, it's simply for your own entertainment. But to claim to be a "fan" of a different team year to year is blasphemy and those people suck.

It's really only annoying when you get the ones that get in your face and talk shite about "their team" when they know damned well it wasn't their team two years ago and it won't be two years from now.

My parents are Saints bandwagon fans, but they're not obnoxious so it's whatever. I guarantee after Breesus retires and the Saints have a protracted slump they won't be fans anymore.

agree. Let's say I move my family to Denver or Dallas. I would still be a Saints fan, but would I want my kids to be Saints fans? I don't know if I would. I wouldn't want to alienate them from experiencing going to games, having same favorite players with friends at school, etc.

I agree. I will probably be moving from New Orleans in a couple of years. I'm definitely going to stay a Pelicans fan, but if I move to a city like Denver, I'd probably attend Nuggets games and wouldn't care if I had kids and they were a Nuggets fan or a Pelicans fan.

It would be tougher if I moved to a city of a team that I dislike (Rockets, Spurs, Grizz), though.

Sure, if they choose to IDGAF they can do whatever makes them happy.

Doing that would not interest me but they are a consumer also and can root for who they choose.

I don't have a problem with people liking multiple college teams.

If you grew up cheering for a team and you continue to cheer for that team I have no problem with it if you cheer for them and your alma mater.

Sam if you move someone with a college team and you want to support your new hometown.

I do dislike people that become obnoxious "die hards" once they join a bandwagon on a team.

I can remember about 3 teams from my youth that I was pretty big fans of at the time. I liked Green Bay the best and I still like them. The other two were the Titans when they first started out, and the Falcons in the Chris Chandler/Jamal Anderson era.

I have been a Saints fan since 2006.

It's absolutely absurd.

What I meant in my previous post was that it would be hard to pull for a team in the Pelicans division. A team like the Nuggets, Blazers, or Warriors wouldn't be so bad.

Yeah, I don't think I could bring myself to ever cheer for, say, the Mavs, but I wouldn't mind supporting another team if I was in the area (except when they played SA, of course).

I already root for Indiana as my Eastern team, and have since the Miller days.

My parents meet at LSU. Moved to northern VA. They got divorced when I was 2. In 1984. I grew up n BR living with my mom. I meet redskins players when i would go visit my dad. I grew up a redskins fan. I now live in Slidell and cheer for the saints. I raise my kids as saints fans but i am a die hard skins fan. I am jumping off their bandwagon and am not spending anymore money on Sunday ticket or any merchandise untill Snyder is gone. Went to Lsu so did all my family so thats an easy one.
