I think we need to go:

1. Brandon Scherff OT/OG 6'5" 320
2. Vic Beasley or Shane Ray OLBs
3. Reese Dismukes C - Remington Award winner (top Center in college football) and first team All American. May be able to trade down and get another draft pick and he would still be available.

Honorable Mentions:
Trae Waynes CB Michigan St.
Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB Oregon
Alex Carter - CB Stanford

Most ideal dream situation for me is to have Scherff fall to us, if so, it is a no brainer. Big mauling OL who plays with a meanstreak (which our team definitely needs) and has tremendous power, can routinely stop pass rushers in their tracks.

In the likelihood that Scherff and Cooper are off the board when we pick and the other two projected OLBs are too, we should strongly consider trading down and hopefully Dismukes or one of those three corners would still be available at the spot we traded down to. Just my opinion, and most likely the Saints will draft some crazy person none of us have ever heard of and who would be a projected 3-4 rounder by everyone else and is not a position of need .

I like the list of guys you have, but Scherff seems like a long shot. I'd be shocked if he is there. Shane Ray is a possibility and you absolutely do not take a center that high in the draft. I really like Trae Waynes and think we can trade back for him while also getting a good OL with the extra pick.

Yea, that's why I think we could possibly trade down if Scherff and the other two projected OLBs are off the board, and still get Dismukes and/or one of the corners. Having Dismukes with youthful talent at minimal cost would help Brees avoid the upfront in-your-face pressure he hates.

But man I'm hoping we can somehow manage to lose against Tampa and have Scherff fall to us!!!

I think if Amari Cooper is there when we pick, then we absolutely should trade down. We need all the picks we can get. One player, no matter how great, will not make us a contender in the near future. If Cooper is there, we can get a great deal on some picks by trading back. There will be much competition.

I wouldn't complain a whole Lot about Amarillo, but man Wed look a lot like the Falcons with all kind of people to throw but Brees is on his back in 2 seconds every play.

Dismukes will be there in the second, possibly even the third

If we don't get a new C whether it's draft or FA, I'm gonna go insane

Exactly my point. We can draft a center later on. I think trading back for another high pick and potentially getting a very good OL/CB, depending what's on the board, is the way to go.

That is unless somehow the can't miss player is there like Leonard Williams or Scherff who IMO are both going to be studs.

That's why I'm thinking if the others are off the board, we could trade down and get one of the corners listed (preferably Trae Waynes IMO) and still get Dismukes later with the extra pick from trading down.

I left out Leonard Williams on the simple fact that Charles Brown and other USC players have left a bad taste in my mouth recently lol, but I do think he will be good!

I hate doing the LSU Homer thing on here but I think La'el Collins would be a great pick if we trade back. He can play G or OT, and with Strief getting up there, I think him and Armstead could eventually be our future.

People always say that, but look at the LSU guys tearing it up in the NFL right now! If there good, there good, plain and simple! And I think Collins would be excellent at Guard for a lot less money and a lot more to strive for and work for in the future!

This. You will have several teams blowing up the phone to trade for the pick to get Cooper. At that point, the pick is worth much more to the Saints than Cooper.

I don't like Beasley or Ray. Nate orchard will probably be just as productive as these two. Heck the other Utah end is really good too. This team needs linemen. If scherff is there we need to grab him. La el collins is going to be a good nfl player too. I would take him tenth overall. Ifo ekpre also gets abused by bigger stronger receivers, and thats mostly who we go up against in the division we are in. Trae waynes would be a solid option or marcus peters if he can keep his head straight.

The problem with that logic is you are trading a slam dunk possible future HOFer for unknowns.

Pretty sure there's a problem with this logic.

The pick is only worth what we make of it.

If we get two picks from that one and whiff on one of the picks, we lose that trade and get a lesser player.

I don't exactly trust this FO with high picks, so if you can grab a definite stud in Cooper in the top 10, go for it.

Cooper is a can't miss. I don't think it would be wise to pass him up, need or not. Yea he's got talent, but he's a guy with his head on straight that isn't going to be out worked by anyone. Dudes like that don't come around every day. He's got the potential to be the best WR on the planet one day, I'm just not sure it would be smart to pass on that, and I don't think the saints would if he were to fall to them. A Cooper and Cooks tandem is probably the best in the league in 5 years. 2 guys with that kind of ability opens up everything.

Can't miss prospects miss all the time. And his "can't miss-ability" is arguable.
