Distances?
On an AK you are pretty much limited to 100yds as its pretty much iron sights.
The 6.8 should be deadly out to 400 yds.

I guess it comes down to which platform you would prefer?
Well, the 6.8 will have more choices for hunting bullets but I don't know that you will care that much for hogs.
I built the 6.8 for deer and pigs. It will work very well on both. It is the best for either but it's a good compromise.
Look into the 6.5 creedmoor. It maybe a good substitute as well
