I am beginning to think that sometimes the players who have earned a big money pay check need to be traded. Obviously, Jimmy Graham is the example right now.

New England has more times than not let the big money guys go, but not all of them.

Sure, Brees is paid. That's obvious. But sometimes, like the draft, the Saints need to look for some players already in the league who still have "potential" and try to coach them up rather than paying the big money.

Big money really ham strings a team, often times for many seasons.

The Saints need to be smarter about who to keep and who to let go.

Money is not always the criteria. Age and injuries need closer scrutiny combined with cold hearted decisions. It is what it is.

Saints off season will be real interesting.

The money on the cap is liquid and doesn't really hamper us.

What hampers us is the belief that the guys we've paid big money to are actually still earning it. Sometimes you need to bench some of these guys.

I wasn't on this board when Graham got his new contract, but I doubt many people were at that time saying he should be traded.

You'd be surprised. There was a vocal group here who wanted to trade Graham. In hindsight it doesn't seem like it would have been such a bad idea considering what we could have gotten for him and the $10+ million more in cap space we would have next year.

He wasn't healthy all year. Can't control things like that. I won't be surprised if he went to IR tomorrow. I'm still on the fence though if we should have traded him.

I'll say it. I think we should seriously consider trading graham. Jimmy is replacable on this offense.

Everybody loves to jump on the Patriots bandwagon when it comes to the draft. They aren't some magical prognosticators when it comes to picks, but it helps that they continually have a buttload of them by trading smart.

Saints need young depth. If we could parlay a Graham trade into a few picks, that would certainly help.

If we would have gotten two first rounders i was all for it, especially at the time. We would have ended up with watkins/benjamin or odell/cooks or another combination like that.

I no joke want to trade for a kicker, particularly Matt Bryant
