Christmas Light Troubleshooting Help

I bought 5 sets of GE Pro-Line Commercial Grade 300ct Icicle lights from Lowes last year. Worked fine all year.
Hung them up this year and 1 set has a section that is out and wont light. This section is out, but on either side it does light up, which seems weird to me.
Could this be b/c of a burnt bulb? Even though part of the set does light?
Any ideas?
I can't return them b/c of course, this particular kind is no where to be found this year.

If it's just one section of a string, it shouldn't be the fuse.
Some of the newer icicle lights work with a burned out or broken bulb, but a section won't light if an entire bulb is missing or if a bulb base is loose/not plugged in tightly/has poor electrical contact.
Good luck. I don't envy your predicament.
