Salmon sushi is amazing. I almost like it better raw than any other way.

I had some smoked steelhead last week. It was pretty good, but the people that made it really know what they're doing.

In general, trout and salmon that isn't fresh caught is pretty weak.

Most of this board lives in the south so they don't know any better.

Nice. I'm buying a smoker for xmas. The winter steelhead are slowly moving into the local rivers now. I'm waiting for the river levels to go down so I can enjoy some smoked steelhead.

I have caught and eaten trout out of clear mountain streams and they were good....and fresh..

But putting them ahead of sac au lait is like putting masturbation ahead of secks with the prom queen

a good fresh native rainbow, or one that has been wild for a while is pretty good.

they don't freeze well.

Brookies are divine.

stocked farmed or pond raised trout are not very good.

fresh wild salmon are really good too. farm raised...not so much.

if you caught them in BR, they will probably have what is known as "off-flavor" which comes from the bluegreen algae that blooms from overfeeding and concentration of poop.

Brookies are indeed a religious experience to catch and eat

In all seriousness, I've only ordered it once, it was not good, but that's likely because I saw "trout", didn't see "rainbow",
And expected something along the lines of a speckled trout.

And yAll are right.....I shouldn't have made comments about my fellow ob'ers taste buds....I'm quite sure they can be prepared in such a way as to make them fine eating. I was really just trying to be funny (several ppl thought it was too lol).
