I'm not a big W fan so we probably agree more than you think about some things.

It's not about W. It's about acting as if we aren't in bed with all manner of questionable regimes/characters.

could help to kill off the over-70 faction of Americans, that hold the country back, with heart attacks. Win-win.

And you'll still be a dumbass and a Bama fan. Lose-lose.

That's premature.

There is still time for negotiation before Congress votes to completely lift the embargo.

The re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba is a good idea. Now, we can negotiate on a more normal and less hostile footing.

[Their] car fleet is 70 yrs old.

And why is their car fleet 70 years old? There are great car manufacturers that aren't American that they can readily trade with, yet their car fleet is 70 years old. People complain that they don't have modern medical supplies, yet they can trade with some of the top medical suppliers in the world. Did you ever think that maybe their problem isn't the American trade embargo but rather the crappy communist government ruled by a tyrant for the last 60 or so years?

I believe he's saying that there's not much of a velvet rope to get into club White House.

I mean, folks - if y'all can't see the differences between Nazi Germany and today, Imperial Japan and today, The Soviet Union collapsed, even "Communist" Albania, Vietnam and China, have changed drastically over the past 30, 40 years.

Cuba hasn't. The lone holdout.

And we just handed them an outright win.

Cuba was never a real threat on its own -- it was only a threat then because of its relationships with the aforementioned states.

As you said, those states are gone or changed now, and thus Cuba is no threat.

Stop worrying about who is "winning" or "losing" some arbitrary war of morality that has no real relevance to the world of today.

I don't spend my time caring what the Castros think, so I don't really give a shite if they feel they won or lost anything.
